The Kapiti Coast District Council is responsible for managing one of the fastest growing districts in the country – a trend expected to continue.
People from all walks of life are coming to live in Kapiti and it is seen as an area with a bright and long term future.
The Kapiti Coast: Choosing Futures – Community Plan has an overall vision that ‘reaffirms the Kapiti lifestyle – with a sustainable emphasis.’ The Community Plan is the Council’s framework for sustainable growth management.
It provides for a programme to improve the quality of the urban environment and town centres, provide more choice in housing and greater protection of the natural environment. It is based on a series of sustainable development principles.
In response to growth the Council will, over the next 10 years, be upgrading major essential infrastructural assets as well as building key community facilities.
