Representation Review – Greater Wellington Regional Council

Councils are required by the Local Electoral Act 2001 to review their representation arrangements at least every six years.

In June 2006 the Greater Wellington Regional Council reviewed their representation arrangements and proposed some changes including the merging of Kapiti Coast District and Porirua into one constituency.

The proposed new arrangements drew a number of objections and appeals which were forwarded together with Greater Wellington Regional Council’s submission to the Local Government Commission for a final ruling.

After considering all the objections the Local Government Commission issued a final determination (11 pages) in April 2007.
