After consultation with the community of the Kapiti Coast District, the Council recognises that it is important to the community that options are kept open for a functioning airport and the use of the Hautere Plains for productive purposes.
Accordingly, this has been incorporated into Part 1 of Kapiti Coast: Choosing Futures - Community Plan.

Committee to deal with airport noise complaints
A new airport related group came into existence in August 2007 following the adoption of the Airport Noise Management Plan by the Kapiti Coast District Council.
The newly established committee, the Aircraft Noise Community Liaison Group, is chaired by Murray Jensen and comprises representatives from the Paraparaumu community, airport users, airport owner and management and local iwi .
The full committee is
Murray Jensen Independent Chairman
Warwick Hawes Kapiti Airport Noise Action Society
Louella Jensen Paraparaumu Community Board
Mervyn Monk Kapiti District Trust
Jack Rikihana Te Ati Awa ki Whakarongotai
Richard Bull Airport users
Richard Baldwin Airport Manager
Noel Robinson Paraparaumu Airport Holdings Ltd
“Airport noise levels are already prescribed in the District Plan” said Mr Jensen, “and all the various airport users are familiar with those rules.”
The committee is required to determine the process for attending to noise complaints and to regularly review that process and activity.
“From the public’s point of view, the most important thing in making any complaint about noisy aircraft, is to do it promptly and to have available the time of the incident and a description,” said Mr Jensen.
All complaints should be directed to the Airport Manager at the airport either in writing, e-mail or by telephone. That documentation and findings will be reviewed by the Community Committee.
“So far there has been very good cooperation and understanding between the parties. The community, particularly those in vicinity of the airport, will be encouraged to use the process if concerns arise,” Mr Jensen said.
