Kāpiti Arts Trail

Artist and Artisan applications for the 2013 Kāpiti Arts Trail are now being accepted.
The annual Kāpiti Arts Trail provides a showcase for artists living and/or working in the Kāpiti Coast District. It is a great opportunity for the public to meet artists at work in their studios, and to view artworks exhibited in a variety of venues.
The 13th annual Kāpiti Arts Trail will be held on the weekend of
2-3 November 2013.
We have three exhibition options available to artists:
- Studio Artists
- Arts & Artisans Hubs
- Cafes and Galleries
Studio Artists
Studio artists are practising artists of some standing, who earn all or part of their income from the sale of their artworks and have a working studio.
Studio Artist applications will be assessed by a panel based on the following criteriea:
- Artists live and/or work on the Kāpiti Coast ;
- Studio artists are practising artists of some standing, who earn all or part of their income from the sale of their artworks;
- Studio artists have a working studio, providing a good visitor experience, with safe access for the public;
- The artworks produced and on display/for sale can be from any art form;
- The artworks are of a good quality;
- The artists undertake to have a sufficient amount of artwork on display during the Kāpiti Arts Trail to ensure a good visitor experience;
- Only the artist/s named on the application form will have their work on display in the Studio during the Arts Trail; and
- The Artist will be in the Studio on both days of the Kāpiti Arts Trail weekends during Trail hours, and be willing to meet with the visiting public.

Arts & Artisans Hubs
The Arts & Artisans Hubs will be held in a number of venues throughout the District, some of which will be managed by the Kāpiti Coast District Council, others will be self-managed.
Entry conditions:
- Applications are invited from artists and artisans who live and/or work on the Kāpiti Coast;
- The exhibited artworks on display/for sale can be from any art form;
- The artworks are of a reasonable quality;
- The artists will be responsible for displaying their work within the venue and for removing their work afterwards and leaving the venue in a tidy state; and
- The artists will be required to be with their displayed work throughout the Hub opening times, or to arrange their own roster of people responsible for being with their work.

Arts & Artisans Hub - Self-Managed Venues
If you have booked or wish to organise a venue for a group of exhibitors, please contact the Arts Trail Organisers as soon as possible to discuss inclusion on the Trail and the coordination of the application process for the venue and exhibitors.
The proposed venue may be in a hall or other suitable space.
Self-managed venue criteria:
- The venue and group must be approved by the Kāpiti Arts Trail Organisers.
- The venue organiser will be responsible for collecting and submitting application forms and fees for all exhibitors at the venue, through to the Kāpiti Arts Trail Organisers.
- Artists and artisans must live and/or work on the Kāpiti Coast ;
- The exhibited artworks on display/for sale can be from any art form;
- The artworks must be of a reasonable quality.

Cafes and Galleries
Over the years many local cafes and galleries have participated in the arts trail.
Criteria for a participating cafe or gallery:
- The venue must be approved by the Kāpiti Arts Trail Organisers.
- The venue organiser will be responsible for collecting and submitting application forms and fees for all exhibitors at the venue, through to the Kāpiti Arts Trail Organisers.
- Artists and artisans must live and/or work on the Kāpiti Coast;
- The exhibited artworks on display/for sale can be from any art form;
- The artworks must be of a reasonable quality.
