BECOME A HABITAT HERO


Sunday 17 July, 9:30am-12:30pm, Whareroa Farm. Kāpiti Coast Biodiversity Project invites your family to meet weta, check some traps, plant some trees and enjoy a sausage sizzle. Wet weather alternative activities, so come rain or shine. Find out more and register.

 

 

PARAKORE - ZERO WASTE WORKSHOP 


 

Mon 18th July: 9am-2pm., He Iti Nā Mōtai Whare Kōhungahunga, 144 Tasman road,  Ōtaki. Nō hea te para? Come and explore whakapapa of waste and learn about connections to Atua Māori. You'll find out about 'systems of stuff' and get mucky with a waste audit. Suitable for adults, teachers and parents with competence in te reo Māori. Bring a plate of kai to share. NGĀ URUORA NATURE TOUR


Wednesday 20 July, 1-3pm, Te Araroa trail. A guided walk of the Kohekohe loop track on Te Araroa trail, with Ngā Uruora members discussing their planting and developments. Meet at the entrance to the Ames Street Reserve, Paekākāriki. Find out more and register.

 

 

WHAREROA GUARDIANS PLANTING


Sunday July 17th,  9:30am- 12:30pm, Whareroa Farm. Join the Whareroa Guardians’ planting session near the Ramaroa Stream and in the Ramaroa wetland. The Guardians would be delighted to have families join in, efforts will be rewarded with a hot dog. Find out more and register.

 

 

PARIKAWAU RESTORATION GROUP TREE PLANTING


Thursday 21 July, 1:15-3pm, Edgewater Park, Waikanae. Pitch in with Parikawau restoration group to plant 800 trees on the north bank of the Waikanae River. Find out more and register.

 

RE-WILD YOUR GROWN-UP


Friday 22 July, 1-3:30pm, Mackays Crossing, Queen Elizabeth Park. Get to know the wild places in Kāpiti and in yourself. Den making, discovery and outdoor fun to help children and adults get wild and find wonder in nature. Find out more and register.

 

WAITOHU DUNE PLANTING


 Saturday 23 July, 10am-12:30pm, meet at the North end of Moana Street, Ōtaki Beach. Join Waitohu Dune Care Group and Kiwi Conservation Club for planting at the Waitohu stream mouth, followed by a sausage sizzle. Find out more and register.
