TIMELINE: Click thumbnail to enlarge image in a new windowThe Resource Management Act requires each provision of a District Plan to be reviewed every 10 years and much of the current plan has not changed since it was completed in 1999.

Communication with stakeholders and interested parties on draft District Plan provisions took place in July through to October 2012.  The Proposed District Plan was notified on 29 November 2012 for formal submissions and hearings.

Information sessions were held throughout the district in early February 2013. Submissions on all provisions except coastal hazards closed on 1 March 2013. Submissions on coastal provisions closed on 2 April 2013.

Any proposed changes would only come into effect after submissions are evaluated and hearings are held over the next year.

Provisions that are subject to appeal may be amended if necessary and come into effect later.
