Background
The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) announced its decision on the Wellington Northern Corridor Route of National Significance (RoNS) on 18 December 2009.
The proposed expressway through the Kāpiti district extends from MacKays Crossing to north of Ōtaki. This is being developed as two separate projects, the southern section from MacKays Crossing to Peka Peka and the northern section from Peka Peka to Ōtaki.
The proposed route follows the general corridor of the Council's former Western Link Road, which is now on hold.
