Long Term Plan
The submission period for the proposed 2013 Amendment to the 2012 LTP has ended, go here for details.
The Long Term Plan (LTP) is a document put together by the Council that sets the strategic direction for the District over the next twenty years. The Long Term Plan covers the function of the Annual Plan for the first year it covers. However Annual Plans are produced for years 2 and 3 of the Long Term Plan.
The purpose of the Long Term Plan is detailed under the Local Government Act (LGA) 2002 to:
- describe the activities of the local authority;
- describe the community outcomes of the local authority's district;
- provide integrated decision-making and coordination of the resources of the local authority
- provide long term focus for the decisions and activities of the local authority;
- provide a basis for accountability of the local authority to community; and
- provide an opportunity for participation by the public in decision-making processes on activities to be undertaken by the local community.
Every three years our Long Term Plan is fully reviewed with public input. The current Long Term Plan covers the 20-year period from July 2012 (and it also constitutes the 2012/13 Annual Plan).
