Coastlands Aquatic Centre

There is good progress on a new aquatic centre for the District.
The Coastlands Aquatic Centre will be built in Paraparaumu town centre, replacing the ageing Raumati Pool.

Mainzeal Construction Ltd have begun site preparations for construction of the new aquatic centre. The budget for the build contract is $15.047 million. The pool complex will be operational by March 2013.
Resource Consent was issued in May. Bulk earthworks started in mid June and were completed on time in mid September.
At the December 15 council meeting Council agreed to lift the over all project budget from $16.69 million to $21 million on the basis that the additional amount will be funded from future land sales and that there will be no additional impact on rates.
Council noted that the additional amount included a $1 million shortfall in fundraising by the Aquatic Centre Trust and that the Trust will continue to seek this funding over future months.
More details of the proposed facility and Trust activities can be found at www.kapitiaquatic.co.nz
