Ōtaki Main Street Upgrade

Artist impression for upgrade of Main Street, Ōtaki

The Ōtaki Town Centre upgrade is running behind schedule but is still on course to deliver a renewed town centre that will make business people and residents proud.

In the past week the unique ANZAC bollards have been installed opposite War Memorial Park, the stainless steel and wooden rubbish bins are now in and the specially designed and built hardwood and marine steel seats installed.

Plantings in the garden areas have been completed and watering systems installed while work on the paved areas of the footpath and parking zones is ongoing.

The streetscape element includes a new street layout with parallel and angle parking, new and widened footpaths, planting, streetlighting, street furniture and art.

A significant amount of money has also been invested in a new stormwater system as part of the Main Street upgrade.  The stormwater upgrade increases the existing capacity, will improve discharged water quality and reduce peak flows.
