The installation of water meters will take place between mid-2012 and the end of 2013. The meters will not be used for charging of water until July 2014.

Water meters north of the Waikanae River will be installed by Thomas Plumbing and Gas Ltd; south of the Waikanae River by Downer NZ Ltd. The installers will deliver a notice to households a week before the installation work is carried out.

This initiative is just one part of a much wider project to substantially improve the supply and quality of reticulated water to residents.
