Civic Building Upgrade

Kāpiti will have a new civic heart when the District Council headquarters is reopened in early 2013.

The upgrade, the associated car parks and the construction of the Coastlands Aquatic Centre, will set the bench mark for the new Paraparaumu town centre.

The Civic Building will change considerably under the proposed re-development. The debating chamber now upstairs will be moved to the ground floor to provide better access for members of the public.

The current 1970s building was purchased by Council in the 1980s when the District was much smaller.  When it was converted from its original purpose as a bank, work spaces were designed around the ground floor bank vault.

The budget for the upgrade is $6.555 million.  Work will commence February 2012 and take around 12 months to complete.
