Jack is a current member of Te Whakaminenga o Kāpiti and Aratahi committees to which he has previously held the chairmanship. He has been a member of the Regional Land Transport Committee and a hearings commissioner for Resource Consents. Jack is actively involved in advocating for better health outcomes for Māori in the greater Wellington region and is a member of the Māori Partnership Board.
Shannon was appointed to represent Te Whakaminenga o Kāpiti and Ara Tahi, in 2008. He is the nephew of founding member, Te Peehi Parata. While he is fairly new to the position, he is no stranger to administering environmental management. Enjoys fishing, eeling and whitebaiting, teachings which he has learned through his extended whanau. In turn, Shannon shares his knowledge of gathering kai with his extended whanau.
Te Waari is currently the Tumuaki (Chairman) of Te Rūnanga o Raukawa Inc. He has current and previous executive experience with his tribal organisations. Te Waari is a qualified hearings commissioner for Resource Consents and qualified assessor for Adult Learners. He is also a tour guide for Kāpiti Island Alive Nature Lodge and Rangiatea Church.
Rupene is a foundation member of Te Whakaminenga o Kāpiti. He has current and previous executive experience with his tribal organisations. Rupene is the current chairperson of the Raukawa Marae Trustees, Raukawa Marae Management Committee and the convenor of Ngā Hapū o Ōtaki. Also a lecturer and researcher at Te Wānanga o Raukawa, with an extensive background.
Carol is a current member of Te Whakaminenga o Kāpiti and on the Committee for Friends of Queen Elizabeth Park, Whareroa Guardian Trust, the Paekākāriki Community Trust and chairperson for the Paekākāriki Station Precinct Trust. Carol is actively involved in many community voluntary organisations.
Jennie is responsible for the Resource Management and Communications for Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira. Jennie is new to the Resource Management position and works closely with Graeme Hastilow. Jennie has been with the rūnanga for almost 3 years.
Jenny has been involved in community politics for the past 30 years. She is a former Mayor of Inglewood (1986-1989), a former Deputy Chair of the Taranaki Regional Council (1989-1991) and former Deputy Chair of the Paekākāriki Community Board. Jenny was a Commissioner to the Environment Court for 16 years. Jenny also lead the successful campaign to save Whareroa Farm.
Elected to Kāpiti Coast District Council in 2004. District Libraries Manager 1990 – 2002.
Involved administratively in the formation of Te Whakaminenga o Kāpiti and one of two Council representatives since 2004. Holds Council portfolios of social services, housing and education, with an interest in the arts.
Koro Don has been Council Kaumātua since 2006. He is committed to preserving and protecting the physical environment as well as cultural elements such as art and language. This knowledge he actively shares with his many mokopuna, believing we are all kaitiaki and that our key responsibility is to ensure that we work towards a better future not just for our children, but for all things now and for all time.
