Are you considering starting a new business venture involving the manufacture and or sale of food?

Opening a new food premises
The booklet Opening a Food Premises (PDF, 26 pages, 214kb) provides information on all the relevant standards you have to meet, as well as the consents you must obtain. There is information on:

Applying to Open a Food Premises, Hairdresser or other Registered Premises
Prior to opening a new a new food premise you must complete and submit an Application for an Enviromental Health Licence or Registration (PDF, 2 pages, 45KB).
Complete all sections, attach a floor plan and return together to the Council Contact Centre.
Transferring the registration of a registered premises
Any person taking ownership of a registered premises must transfer the registration within 14 days of taking over the business. Please complete the Application for an Environmental Health Licence or Registration (link above).

Kāpiti Coast District Council Food Safety Bylaw 2006
The Kāpiti Coast District Council Food Safety Bylaw 2006 was introduced to improve food safety in premises who prepare and sell food in the district by requiring mandatory food handler training, providing a framework for grading premises to recognise those that have achieved standards of excellence and to ensure Council had the ability to immediately close premises that were unsanitary.
