Replacing rubber washers on leaking taps and toilets

The Green Plumber will replace washers on leaking toilets, taps and showers for free.

Water leaks cost the community thousands of dollars a year in water that could have been used for other purposes.  For example a tap dripping every second wastes over 10 litres of water a day and a leaky cistern on your toilet wastes anywhere between 70 to 300 litres of water a day.  At the height of summer this wasted water could mean raising water restrictions to the next level.

What about hot water cylincers or header tanks?
Currently the Green Plumber is not changing washers on header tanks or water cylinders.  If your system is leaking, you will need to contact a plumber.

Does the Green Plumber fix leaks in ceramic taps?
Leaking ceramic taps indicate the tap doesn't have a filter or pressure reducing valve.  Fixing the leak requires installing the filter and valve and this would exceed the budget of the service.  If your ceramic tap has a leak, the Council recommends getting a plumber to resolve the issue.

Assist you in identifying the location of a major leak

Major leaks on private property can waste huge amounts of water.  In one case, 1000 litres of water was being lost from the network every hour, the same amount of water a family uses in a day!

If you suspect you have a leak or the council has notified you that that there is a leak on your property, the Green Plumber will visit your home, identify the leak and suggest the best course for resolving the leak.

Free Workshops on Simple Plumbing Maintenance

Do you belong to a group or society and would like to have a go at changing washers in your home?  Fixing leaks seems daunting but it isn't.  Simply book the Green Plumber and he will come and show the group how easy it is to replace washers in taps.  No more drips keeping you awake at night, and no more wasted water!

Advice on Raintanks, Bores and Greywater

Our water supplies cannot sustain intense irrigation during the summer months.  Besides, gardens do not need highly treated town water to thrive.

Well designed borewater, rain water and greywater systems enable you to sustain your garden during the summer months.  The choice will depend on your budget, what you want to water and where you live.  The Green Plumber can come to your home and discuss what water option best suits you and your budget.
