Rates Payments
Rates payments and general enquiries can be made at the Council offices or at any Service Centre. See also Rates Rebates and Rates Instalments and Penalty Dates 2009/10.
You have a choice of ways to make your rates payments.
Cheques may be presented at Council offices or Service Centres, or mailed with the remittance advice to the Kapiti Coast District Council, Private Bag 60601, Paraparaumu. Cash and EFT-POS will be accepted at the Customer Services counter at the Paraparaumu office, Waikanae Library, Otaki Library and our Paekakariki agency, Paekakariki Fruit Supply.
You can pay your Rates by arranging with us to direct debit your bank account on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly basis. This is the easiest way to pay and you will no longer have to worry about writing a cheque, finding stamps or going to a Council office. The Customer Service Officer at each office will assist you to complete the necessary bank authorisation, or you can download the Direct Debit form (PDF, 1 page, 35Kb).
If you sell your property, your direct debit arrangement with the Council will be terminated when we receive the property's Notice of Sale. You do not need to cancel the direct debit authority with your bank yourself.
Fixed amount payments can be made automatically from your bank account at a frequency preferred by you. An automatic payment authority form can be obtained from the cashier of each Council office.
It is your responsibility to forward it to your bank and arrange for payment amounts to be adjusted if required. The equivalent of each instalment still must be met on or before the due instalment date to avoid penalty charges.
If you sell your property, cancel your direct credit authority with your bank.
You will need to deal directly with your bank to set up this payment option. Please make sure that with each payment your property's Valuation Number is quoted. If you have more than one property, the rate instalment for each requires a separate entry on the Council's bank statement.
You can pay your rates instalment at any New Zealand Post shop or any branch of the Westpac Bank or Books and More outlet. Please present your latest, barcoded rate invoice to pay by cash, cheque or EFT-POS.
