Mayor's Profile

Jenny Rowan is a former Mayor of Inglewood (1986-1989), a former Deputy Chair of the Taranaki Regional Council (1989-1991) and a former Deputy Chair of the Paekakariki Community Board (2004-2006).

Prior to becoming Mayor of Kapiti Coast District in 2007, Jenny was a Commissioner in the Environment Court for 16 years.

She has also spent 20 years working as a Civil Defence Recovery coordinator – overseeing major disaster recovery events in Paekakariki, Inglewood and Ohura.

Jenny Rowan moved to Paekakariki in 1999 and first became involved in Kapiti community life when appointed as Civil Defence Co-ordinator during the Paekakariki floods.

She is a former member of the Paekakariki Community Board.  She lives in Paekakariki with Jools, her partner of 20 years.  Together, they have six children and two grandchildren.

She is a qualified mediator, a Justice of the Peace and was awarded the Queen’s Service Order in 1991.
