Expressway consultation dates welcome

Mayor Jenny Rowan says she is pleased the consultation dates have been set for the proposed MacKays to Peka Peka Expressway.

“Like many residents, we were disappointed when the November 7 consultation start-up date was delayed. A number of residents are understandably anxious about whether the expressway will impact on their properties or not.

“I am pleased the consultation dates have now been set, and the period of consultation extended to 10 weeks to early February. This is an extremely important project and our residents need time to consider its impact and ramifications.”

Ms Rowan said Council had yet to make a decision on whether it would submit as part of the consultation process. “We do not see membership of the Alliance as precluding us as a Council from making a submission. However, we need to have this discussion and come to a formal position. In the meantime, we will be taking a close interest in the consultation round and the issues raised.”
