First ever Seniors’ Expo for the Coast
Thursday 11 February 2010
Tai Chi Qigong and Active Seniors demonstrations are just two of the activities taking place in Waikanae War Memorial Hall at the first ever Seniors’ Expo to be held on the Kapiti Coast on Tuesday, March 2.
The aim of the Expo organised by the Kāpiti Coast Council of Elders in association with the Kāpiti Coast District Council, is to celebrate positive ageing by showing Kāpiti residents and those of neighbouring districts like Horowhenua the myriad goods, services, organisations and clubs available to the senior population. It will run from 10am to 4pm.
“We want to show this senior generation and those approaching retirement that it’s not about having one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel,” says Jill Stansfield, Chair of the Council of Elders. “Life is for living, whatever your age may be.”
Entry is free, and the organisers are sure the displays, information and activities will be of real interest. SeniorNet Kāpiti will also hold an Open Day at the Expo.
A free shuttle van, courtesy of Bluebird Rentals, is available to/from Woolworths Waikanae to the Expo at Waikanae War Memorial Hall on Pehi Kupa Street.
The Paraparaumu RSA Ladies will be running a small cafe for morning tea and lunch.
