Marine Gardens playground upgrade to start next week
Friday 01 June 2012

Work will begin next week on the planned upgrade of the children’s playground in Marine Gardens, Raumati Beach.
The upgrade will include installing a water-play feature, the first of its type to be sited in a public park in the Wellington region.
PlayRope of Wanganui has been awarded the contract to complete work, which includes replacing the old play equipment, installing the water-play feature and establishing an area for older children
The redevelopment is part of the Marine Gardens Project that has involved extensive consultation with the local community and the Youth Council.
Chair of the Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board Louella Jensen says after months planning, it is exciting to see the work finally begin.
“Marine Garden’s playground has always been popular but I think the new play equipment will make it even more appealing and the water-play feature is sure to be a big drawcard.”
The $550,000 playground redevelopment is expected to be completed by the September in time for summer.
