Survey deadline extended
Thursday 05 July 2012
The submission deadline for a survey on Local Government Reform in Kāpiti titled “What do you think?” has been extended till July 31.
“The survey was to be hand delivered to 21,500 Kāpiti households starting June 22 with submissions closing July 20,” said Mayor Jenny Rowan.
“However, a number of households have not received this important document, so we have decided to print the document in the Kapiti Observer on July 9 and Kapiti News on July 11 and also extend the deadline for submissions till July 31.”
The eight page document contains background material on four Local Government Reform options and a quick and easy survey form.
“This is a chance for residents to have their say on how the region could be governed in the future so it is very important we make the document as accessible as we can.”
Copies of the document are available on line at www.kapiticoast.govt.nz/reform, at Council’s Customer Service Centres, or at the local libraries. Completed survey forms can be sent direct to Council at Private Bag 60601, Paraparaumu 5254, or by email to email@example.com.
Mayor Rowan said some confusion may have been generated by radio reports today which suggested submissions closed tomorrow. “The Kāpiti survey is still underway and the deadline for submissions is July 31. We are aware other centres are surveying their residents and that their deadlines may differ.
“Given this, I urge the media to be careful how they present their information and to be explicit about which survey they are referring to”.
