It's that time of year again, when the Kāpiti community comes together to celebrate how books can change lives.
During March the Kapiti Coast District Libraries will be inviting people to help them celebrate New Zealand Book Month 2013 at the Paraparaumu, Waikanae and Ōtaki Libraries.
There are four New Zealand author talks scheduled. These include:
John Saker – Waikanae Library, Thursday 7 March 1.30-2.30pm
Billy Graham – Paraparaumu Library, Thursday 7 March 6.30-7.30pm
Apirana Taylor – Otaki Library, Wednesday 20 March 11.00-12.00noon
Chris Maclean – Paraparaumu Library, Tuesday 26 March 7.30-9.00pm
All author talks are free of charge and no bookings are necessary
New Zealand Book Month plays a vital role in teaching children and adults that books can be fun and engaging for all ages.
The event is a nationwide campaign to help establish and build a nation of dedicated readers and to bring readers and writers together.
In support of New Zealand Book Month, Booksellers NZ will be sending every household a $5 book voucher to help encourage communities to get reading.
The organiser of the nationwide event, Megan Dunn, said: "I hope the Kapiti community will join us in celebrating NZ Book Month and take this special time to bond with their families. We believe everyone should be able to experience the magic of the written word."
There are over 200 community groups, libraries and book groups signed up to take part in the nationwide initiative.
