What's On

Otaraua Park Development

We’re preparing a development plan for Otaraua Park, the newest park in Kāpiti and we want to hear the community’s ideas and views.

As the district’s newest park, Otaraua Park will be unfamiliar to many people in the community.  We already have a management plan, but we need a plan for Otaraua Park’s long-term development so it meets the needs of all users. We need the community’s help to do this.

The aim of the Otaraua Park Reserve Management Plan is to provide for the enjoyment of a wide range of recreational and sporting opportunities – in a manner that’s consistent with the conservation and enhancement of the unique character and ecological values of the park.

Throughout 2017, there will be a range of ways you can contribute your ideas for the park.

Opportunities for community input

  • Otaraua Park Experience event. On Sunday 19 March, we invited the community to come and acquaint themselves with Otaraua Park at family a fun day. Thanks to everyone who came along and shared their ideas for the future devlopment of the park.
  • Otaraua Park Development Survey. Your feedback will help us to understand who uses Otaraua Park and to gather your ideas for the park.
  • Community Workshops. In the coming months, we'll be holding workshops with different groups within the community.
