Freedom camping 

  • North Bank, Ōtaki River, Ōtaki Beach. Six vehicle sites. Time limit - 48 hours.

Department of Conservation (DoC) campsites

  • Waikawa, North Manakau Road, 9km north of Ōtaki. Free camping.
  • Ōtaki Forks, Ōtaki Gorge Road, turnoff 1 km south of Ōtaki drive 19km to road end. Hut and camp fees $5 adult, $2.50 child, child under 11 free.
