Senior Advisor Content & Channels: Full time – Permanent

We are looking for an experienced communications professional with lots of energy and enthusiasm to join our busy Communications & Engagement team. You will be as comfortable working at the strategic level as you are at rolling up your sleeves and delivering engaging content for our key communications channels every day.

You will seek opportunities to develop new communications channels, with a strong focus on digital. You will enhance and encourage community participation in Council’s work by bringing the Council’s story to life in a compelling and consistent way. You will be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing strategies to promote and measure integrated approaches to proactively planning and managing content across Council’s key internal and external communications channels.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in communications, media, marketing or a related field.
  • Outstanding knowledge of emerging communications trends and channels and the changing media landscape.
  • Demonstrated high level of computer, web and social media literacy and understanding of modern digital communication.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and planning content and managing a variety of channels.
  • Previous media management experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate a wide range of information to a wide variety of audiences and through all communications channels.
  • An ability to cope with change; adjust to and work with a variety of situations, individuals and agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, remaining calm and able to convey clear direction.
  • Confidence to positively challenge established ways of doing things by sharing resourceful ideas and solutions; pushes for continuous improvement in all ways of doing things and a champion of quality communication methodologies.
  • Demonstrated effective time management and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the need for, and ability to exercise discretion, good judgment and political sensitivity within the unique local government environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service and willingness to and capability for working with a wide range of people within and outside the organization.
  • An understanding and appreciation of Council business.
  • Holder of a current and valid NZ Drivers’ licence.
