Join our passionate and dynamic Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team! We are expanding our team, and we are on the lookout for a star to join us.
Are you an experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner looking for your next opportunity, or an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor ready to make the next step? This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a newly created Business Partner role that will work across a breadth of health, safety and wellbeing like no other ensuring no two weeks are the same, and one where you can make a real impact to health, safety and wellbeing outcomes.
This full-time permanent role will partner with business units across Council working across infrastructure projects, roading, aquatics, community led initiatives, aquatics, wastewater facilities, corporate health and safety and much more. You’ll be someone that loves being onsite in steel cap boots and being in the office working strategically to develop procedures, completing audit reports, and ideally, you’ll also be comfortable presenting, running training sessions and a keen mentor for those needing a little health, safety and wellbeing guidance.
You’ll work alongside our enthusiastic Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Manager who believes in being pragmatic when it comes to safety and the power of psychosocial safety to create a thriving workplace. Together, you'll review current processes and introduce initiatives that foster a safe, healthy and supportive environment for everyone. While our team is small, we’re mighty! We pride ourselves on partnering with the business groups to deliver credible health, safety and wellbeing support and advice, along with practical procedural information, tools and training.

About you | He kōrero mōu
You’ll also bring strong knowledge of and experience in:
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a health and safety role, preference will be given to those that have broad health and safety experience as the diverse work profile at Council is like no other
- A relevant tertiary qualification or working towards one
- Extensive knowledge with the NZ health and safety related legislation with proven experience in the practical application of HSWA 2015 and associated regulations
- Demonstrated success in coaching and guiding change with a focus on health, safety and wellbeing, making the complex simple and communicating in plain English will be your superpowers when you partner with managers, internal teams and stakeholders
- Demonstrated success in leading and implementing health, safety and wellbeing initiatives to deliver strategic outcomes
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- A good sense of humour with a passion for health, safety and wellbeing will make you a good fit for our team!
