About the role
Are you enthusiastic about swimming and passionate about teaching? Dive into a rewarding opportunity!
Based at Coastlands Aquatics Centre, join our team of Learn to Swim Instructors providing water safety and aquatic education as required for Learn to Swim programmes, school programmes and community stakeholders. You will be a positive role model, creating a supportive, safe and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage students to be comfortable and confident in the water.
The following rosters are available:
- 2 instructors required for Saturday 7:45am - 1pm
- 1 instructor required for Wednesday 3:15pm – 6:15pm
Skills and Experience
- Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service and willingness to and capability for dealing with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation.
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards swimming and learning.
- Perseverance, patience, sensitivity, and the ability to put people at ease.
- Proven experience in facilitating aquatic activities, including the ability to inspire confidence and motivate whānau.
- Hold, or be prepared to gain, one of the following:
- SNZ Swim Teacher Award
- Austswim Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety
- NZ Certificate in Aquatics (Swim & Water Safety Teacher) Level 3
- Have appropriate aquatic skills and an understanding of life saving methods, including resuscitation and must hold a current practical first aid certificate (or be prepared to obtain one)
- Have the skills necessary to contribute to a positive team environment, to support and uphold the philosophy of Kauora and SwimKāpiti’s aquatic education.
