Applications are open for Volunteens to help with the libraries' popular Summer Reading programme.
What is a Volunteen? A Volunteen is someone between the ages of 14 and 18 who volunteers (for no payment) to help children report in for the Summer Reading Programme. You must enjoy working with children, be willing to volunteer a total of at least sixteen hours during January, attend an informal interview, and attend a training session at Paraparaumu Library on Thursday 3 December (after school hours). Volunteens may also assist with other tasks such as school holiday events and the finale party. Ōtaki Volunteens or those who are unavailable for the Paraparaumu session may be able to attend a training session at Ōtaki Library .
Usually you will work a 2 hour shift twice a week with another Volunteen. The report in times for children in January 2021 will be:
Paraparaumu Library Monday to Saturday 11am-1pm
Waikanae Library Monday to Friday 11am-1pm
Ōtaki Library Monday to Friday 11am-1pm
To acknowledge the commitment of our Volunteens we will supply a letter of reference for your work experience at a thank you event in February.
Please complete the application form below. Volunteen numbers are limited and application does not guarantee acceptance into the programme. Applications close 8 November 2020.
