Pounamu Ōtaki
Group footprint July 2016: 0.98 earths
Pounamu Ōtaki is a whanau based group whose kaupapa involves whanaungatanga, mahi tahi, whakarite māra, whakatō kākano, whakatipu kai, kaitahi, kōrero Māori, waiata tahi and anything green. They meet regularly to work in each other’s gardens doing whats needed such as harvesting beans, preparing spring garden beds, building a hugel, planting trees, enjoying kai and more . The Pounamu Ōtaki group began the competition as an incredibly resourceful community, with an average eco footprint of 0.98.
