New community garden at Ōtaki Library
Edible gardens ready to be enjoyed in Ōtaki
Our Ōtaki Librarians and our Parks and Operations teams have been busy over the last few weeks planning and planting the new edible garden. Located in front of the Ōtaki War Memorial Hall and the clock tower, people can help themselves to silverbeet, choy, herbs and ornamental kale. Ka pai!
Community Learning at Ōtaki Library
Together with the development of the community gardens, the Ōtaki Library will be holding bi-monthly garden talks on different gardening topics called “Learn, Grow & Share”. They are on the first Thursday of the month.
We have a regular free monthly programme, Ako: Skills Café, in which a member of our talented community teaches a different skill or craft each month. These are each month on the fourth Friday of the month. 10.30am – 12pm.
Our next one is a pottery hand-building class on Friday 27 September 10.30am.
*Please note registrations are required for the Ako sessions - please pop into the library or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
