Road stopping

Road stopping is the process of changing the designation of the land from unformed legal road to "fee simple" land so that it can be sold.

We may sell road reserve to a property owner when the land is not needed for utilities, roads, or footpaths.

Each application to buy an area of unformed legal road is individually assessed and the whole process can take up to three years. Survey, valuation, and legal costs can add thousands to the cost of the purchase.
