Recycling collection area extended in Te Horo and Ōtaki

From 1 September 2017, additional areas in Te Horo and Ōtaki will have access to kerbside recycling collection. This includes most of the roads between Ōtaki Gorge Road and Settlement Road east of State Highway 1 in Te Horo, as well as the loop from Waitohu Valley Road to Rahui Road via Ringawhati Road (and side roads) in Ōtaki.

The extended recycling area in Te Horo and Ōtaki is shown by red dashed lines in the map below.

Residents in these areas who already have a wheelie bin for rubbish from one of Kāpiti’s four rubbish and recycling collectors will automatically receive recycling bins and crates from their collectors. Residents who don’t receive kerbside rubbish collection yet can sign up with one of Kāpiti’s four licenced rubbish and recycling collectors:

The area where recycling has to be collected is set by Council in cooperation with the district’s licenced collectors. As population in certain areas of the district increases, we aim to continually extend this area, so that more residents have access to kerbside recycling collection services.

The urban rubbish collection area is the minimum zone where kerbside recycling collection has to be provided by collectors in conjunction with rubbish collection. However, some collectors provide recycling services beyond this zone.

Residents outside the urban collection zone can drop off their recyclables free of charge at one of the three transfer stations in the district, situated on Riverbank Rd, Ōtaki, Park Ave, Waikanae and Otaihanga Rd, Paraparaumu.
