Resource Management Act Amendments – fees
Recent amendments to the Resource Management Act 1991 are creating several additional approval processes for undertaking land use activities which come into legal effect on 18 October 2017. These include:
- Boundary ‘deemed permitted’ activities – Council must exempt ‘boundary activities’ from needing a resource consent if neighbour approval is provided.
- Marginal/temporary breaches – Council may exempt ‘marginal or temporary’ activities from needing resource consent.
- Fast track process – land use controlled activities must be processed within 10 working days
In order for Council to recover costs associated with processing and deciding on these new processes, fees need to be set. The fees are required to cover the reasonable costs incurred by Council in processing the applications.
Feedback is sought on the proposed fees. A statement of proposal is below, along with a submission form which can be completed electronically and emailed to [email protected]. Paper copies are also available at Kapiti Coast District Council Service Centres in Otaki and Waikanae, the Council main offices in Rimu Road, Paraparaumu, and in the Paraparaumu and Paekakariki Libraries. Alternatively submissions can also be made through the Council consultation portal.
Consultation closed Thursday 2 November 2017.
Submitters who indicate they wish to speak to the Council about their submission will be contacted after the submission closing date to arrange a time for this. Public hearing dates are expected to be in November.
