During November/December 2021 we undertook a survey as part of a wider needs assessment to identify our district's housing and social requirements, examine their nature and causes, and set priorities for action. It's one of the initial key actions of Council's housing work programme. We had over 1,300 people respond to the survey. Submissions closed on 10 December 2021.

The survey results will now be assessed and key findings included in a draft report due to be delivered in early 2022. Learn more at kapiticoast.govt.nz/housing/housing-assessment.

There’s growing concern about increasing housing and social needs of our district, so we’re taking an in-depth look at what’s happening, and what’s likely to happen as our district continues to grow.

Survey

Our district is growing and so is the need for housing and support services. Right now (through to 10 December), we’re asking you to take the survey below and tell us your housing story and aspirations so that we can build a case for change.

While there is plenty of anecdotal evidence painting the picture of current and emerging housing and social needs in Kāpiti, we need a stronger information base to support future discussions with Government and enable us to address these gaps.

To have the biggest impact, we need to hear from as many of you as possible. Complete the anonymous survey below.

You can also download and fill the survey offline (under documents on the right of this page) or you can find a copy at your local library or Council service centre.

Needs assessment

The survey is part of a wider needs assessment to identify housing and social requirements, examine their nature and causes, and set priorities for action. It's one of the initial key actions of Council's housing work programme.

The assessment is made up of:

  • quantitative research
  • qualitative research
  • research by our iwi partners into the housing and social needs in their rohe (district).

We’re taking this process a little bit further than most, to make sure we hear from every corner of our community. We need to get this right, so we can meet our vision of a thriving environment, vibrant economy, and strong communities. A draft assessment is due in early 2022.

Other ways to kōrero about housing

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

In this survey, we ask about your current housing situation and future housing aspirations to help us build a case for change. It's part of a wider housing assessment that will be used to support future discussions with Government and enable Council, iwi and other stakeholders to address the current and emerging housing and social needs.

To have the biggest impact, we need to hear from as many people as possible.

The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and your responses are anonymous and confidential.

If you have a ‘Kōrero mai / Have your say’ account and would like to complete this survey anonymously please make sure you are logged out. If you would like to remain logged in, all information collected is confidential.

Ngā mihi maioha. Thank you for your time.
