Kāpiti Arts Guide Listing no. 26
My contemporary textile paintings explore pattern, structure and our human desire for connection. The influence of my background in computer science can also be spotted in my geometric designs. I work in both abstracts and landscapes. Instead of brushing colour onto canvas, I paint by arranging hand cut shapes and lines from my vibrantly coloured hand-dyed fabric into dynamic compositions. Extensive stitching adds rich texture to the finished surface. I exhibit in both solo and group shows across the globe. Previous museum exhibits include the Danforth Museum of Art in Massachusetts, The Mint Museum of Craft & Design in North Carolina and The Atlantic Center in Florida. My textile paintings are included in numerous public and private collections, including the University Hospitals in Cleveland and the University of Pennsylvania. My work is represented by galleries in New Zealand and Philadelphia. I moved to New Zealand in 2015 from Denver, Colorado.
