Vanessa Owens

Kāpiti Arts Guide Listing no. 51

Vanessa Owens is a Kāpiti Coast Artist who is inspired by the abundant bird life found living on Kāpiti’s rivers, reserves and lagoons. Vanessa’s preferred medium is acrylics onto stretched canvas. Painting from a photo reference adds a realistic style to her birds, but she also allows her own interpretation, which gives her paintings a bold contemporary edge. The Waikanae Estuary and Ngā Manu Nature Reserve provide much inspiration for her preferred subject matter of New Zealand native birds.  These include: tui, kingfisher, kereru, kiwi, and many more native birds.
