Makahuri Studio - Berylla Jones
Kāpiti Arts Guide Listing no. 14
I work mainly with fabrics. A continued exploration of surface design and texture has taken me down many paths. The colours and textures of nature are my main inspirations. I love to dye my own fabrics - silks and cottons. Shibori dying is a favourite for creating texture and colour. My work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally and have won awards. I am currently working from a studio at Makahuri, formerly MaryCrest. I am enjoying the community that is continuing to gather here. My work is mainly quilts and quilted hangings. Shibori dyed clothing and furnishings will also be on sale.
Artistic medium: Fabric especially quilted wall hangings, smaller items eg cushions; Shibori dyed recyled clothing
