Let's Talk About ME!

Te Raukura ki Kāpiti, Paraparaumu, Kapiti Coast

SAT 17 SEP 2:00 P.M. - 4:30 P.M.

Let's Talk About ME! is a follow-your-dreams comedy musical starring Andrew London and featuring twenty-seven of his original and most popular songs. Because you're never too old to follow your heart!

LTAM Partnership in association with Godiva Productions and Femme Natale theatre company are excited to bring you the world premiere of this hilarious new and uniquely Kiwi stage musical. The musical tells the story of Darryl Newman, a man with a broken guitar, two mortgages, and a mid-life crisis. His ambitious wife wants him to "get a haircut and get a real job". His teenage daughter is an alien to him in a tech-driven, social media world. After an altercation at a wedding gig, Darryl is ordered to go to anger management. Over the course of a week, Darryl meets a diverse range of people who guide him towards a new perspective on life. He learns that the things in life that make you rich are not possessions, but rather passions.

Playing the lead role of Darryl, Andrew London is based on the Kāpiti Coast and is a songwriter and satirist whose songs explore social and political themes and although humour and satire is very much to the fore (you'll laugh your socks off), poignancy and pathos are often not far away. His whimsical songs reflect the national psyche and playfully lampoon many of mainstream New Zealand society's obsessions and taboos. They're clever and they're flippin' funny! Playing his special brand of whimsical songwriting, Andrew regularly tours New Zealand and overseas destinations with his bass-player / singer wife, Kirsten who also appears in the show.

The script for the musical has been written by April Phillips who is one of New Zealand's leading playwrights. She honed her comedy writing skills as a member of the acclaimed and award-winning Hens Teeth female comedy troupe for ten years and was part of the 2017 comeback season at Circa Theatre. Since 2018 she has been a writer/performer in the touring stage comedy Femme Natale. April has been the recipient of the Playwright's Association of New Zealand Award for Outstanding Achievement twice (2010 & 2013). She's been a finalist in the SWANZ (NZ Writer's Guild) awards three times. She's also received numerous international awards, accolades, nominations and official selections for her work as writer and/or director on short films.

The development of this uniquely New Zealand musical has been financially supported by Creative NZ, corporate sponsors, and by the unbridled enthusiasm and generosity of April and Andrew's New Zealand-wide fan base. Seats for this premiere season of Let's Talk About ME! will be keenly sought after, so book now and make sure you're among the first to see this hilarious new Kiwi musical!

2022 Covid-19 update:

Due to the current Covid red traffic light system restrictions and the effective curtailment until further notice of theatre events, this event was reluctantly, once again, postponed to 15th – 17th September 2022.

The company remains very committed to bringing this production to you. We hope that by the new September dates the current risks will have subsided and that you will still find time to enjoy the show with us.

Ticket holders have been contacted by Eventfinda to inform about the ticket transfer to the new dates.
