Diane Connal, Jeweller/Artist
Kāpiti Arts Trail: Guide Listing no. 86
Artistic medium: Jewellery, Painting
I have been a practising artist, jeweller/painter since attending Sydney College of the Arts in the 80s. Jewellery making has been my major artistic outlet for many years. I have a love of found objects that has always run through my work. I enjoy the placement of different materials together to make up the one unique piece.
In the last few years I have turned to painting once more. I was inspired by the 100 Day Challenge last year which lead me to painting people, often nudes.
The Kāpiti Coast has been my home for 23 years although I visited here with my family for most of my childhood. My environment and landscape greatly influence and inspire my work and I see art forms and designs raging through the hills and over the sea. I am currently working on exciting new ranges of work and will be showing them in my outlets and studio this summer. Painting feeds my soul.
