Sushei Hamlin-Sullivan Studio and Gallery
Kāpiti Arts Guide: Listing 18
Artistic medium: Painting, fibre and textiles
Sushei creates vibrant, contemporary, textured paintings and textile art, from seascapes to abstract. Visitors will be blown away by the strength, intensity, and the brightness of colours, especially blues in her works inspired by the ocean and the night sky.
An artist for over 20 years, Sushei has worked in Australia and New Zealand, exhibiting in both countries. As well as from the rich colours and textures of sea and sky, she draws inspiration from architectural shapes, nature, and fables.
Normally resident in Paekākāriki Studios & Gallery, upstairs in the Holtom’s Building, Sushei is working in her home studio up to and during the Arts Trail, and will return to her Paekākāriki studio once earthquake strengthening renovations are completed there. Her home studio is down the back of the driveway.
