Kāpiti Arts Trail: Guide Listing no. 41
Artistic medium: Painting, Pen and wash, pen and ink, coloured pencil
My work is informed by a passion for nature and its inhabitants. I feel for the endangered species, all too common now, driven from their habitats by the human requirement for constant consumption. I am painting native birds and am particularly enamoured by their eyes which to me seem to reflect the sacred wilderness from which they originated. My intention is to capture the wildness and the pathos of these beautiful birds in my work and my hope is that others will see it too and begin to shift their perception away from consumption to conservation.
