Kāpiti Arts Trail: Guide Listing no. 97
Artistic mediums: Printmaking, Textiles
Graduated Wellington Polytechnic School of Design in 1977; Master of Design (distinction), Massey University, 2012. For over thirty years, international award-winning artist Rosemary Mortimer has explored materials through printmaking, textiles, painting, and installation. Her work has been exhibited widely in solo and group shows, and she has taught at Wellington Polytechnic School of Design, Whitireia Polytechnic, and Inverlochy Art School.
She began her art practice as a printmaker, and in recent years has returned to print processes, using the detritus of industry and found materials to make her work. In her print workshop in Te Horo, she will be showing new original collagraphs printed from birds’ nests, and work from her “Outsourcing” series, (previously exhibited at her solo exhibition at Taller Galleria Fort in Cadaqués, Spain), along with prints, paintings, textiles and other interesting finds from her drawers in the bargain bin.
