Kāpiti Arts Trail: Listing 69
Artistic medium: Painting, encaustic
Inspired by Nature and her commitment to sustainability, Kim now uses wax from her own beehive to create organic, layered, and multi-sensory artworks through the ancient Egyptian technique of encaustic painting. With a Diploma in Professional Photography over 25 years' experience in Canada and New Zealand, Kim discovered Encaustic Photography about 15 years ago. She now combines being a photographer, artist, and beekeeper to merge and complete a full circle in creating an original artwork.
A regular exhibitor in the NZ Art Show and in galleries around New Zealand, Kim works from her Studio Reset in rural Hautere surrounded by nature and the smell and texture of beeswax. She also holds workshops on encaustic techniques.
