About the role
The Libraries and Cultural Services Team works to deliver Kapiti Coast District Council’s library and cultural services online and from four physical locations throughout the district. As a member of the Programmes and Outreach Team you will be committed to the development, planning, delivery and evaluation of library programmes and outreach services that provide positive cultural and social outcomes for our communities across the district.
The team and this role has a clear districtwide mandate which will see you regularly working at any of the district’s four libraries; however, your primary base will be at Ōtaki Library. This could either be a 20-hour or a 40-hour role, depending on your availability and preferences.
We’ve listed the ideal skills and experience below. At the Kāpiti Coast District Council, we want our people to learn all the time. We want a workforce that is dynamic and diverse, and always going somewhere. So if you feel like you don't meet all the requirements below, think about applying anyway.
Skills and Experience
- Understanding of Te Ao Māori perspectives and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and their application and expression within libraries.
- Proficiency in Te Reo Māori and a desire to support the community’s development in Te Reo and Te Ao Māori.
- Preferably with sound experience in the development, planning and delivery of programmes, events or activities in a community-focused environment.
- Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service and willingness and ability to work with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to work proactively without supervision and collaboratively as a cooperative team member.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Tireless advocate of institutional development.
- Holder of a current and valid NZ Drivers’ Licence.
- Minimum qualification required is NCEA Level 2.
