Responsible Camping Ambassador - Ref:290
Part Time - Fixed Term (20hours/week) or Casual
About the role
We are looking for Responsible Camping ambassadors to join the Kapiti Coast District Council over the summer period. You will be responsible for monitoring freedom camping across the Kapiti District and respond to service requests. The Responsible Camping Ambassador will educate and encourage freedom campers to be responsible campers by providing relevant information on the Freedom Camping Act and relevant proposed amendments. Also, you will conduct surveys to contribute to responsible camping data collection.
Please note that you will be required to be available over any seven days of the week to work for up to 20 hours per week from 23rd January – 23r April 2023. You will also need the ability to work early mornings and early evenings
Skills and Experience
- Local knowledge of the Kapiti District.
- Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service and willingness to and capability for working with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation.
- Relevant experience in dealing with conflict (compliance and enforcement experience is desirable)
- Effective dispute and conflict mediation skills
- A full driver licence, a person with a restricted licence may be considered.

How to apply
The preferred candidate will be required to undergo the usual pre-employment checks, including drug and alcohol screening, criminal history, and credit checks. The successful applicant will need to be available on 7 and 8 February 2023 for training in relation to situational safety and tactical communications. Please note you must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
