Treatment Plant Supervisors - Ref 41
We are looking for two enthusiastic individuals to join our leadership team in our Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants. These roles are dynamic and challenging with one vacancy located at our Wastewater Treatment Plant in Paraparaumu and one located at our Water Treatment Plant in Waikanae.
Kāpiti Coast District Council provides wastewater collection, treatment and disposal for the residents and businesses of urban communities in Ōtaki, Waikanae, Paraparaumu and Raumati. We use a SCADA monitoring and control system to manage all treatment plants.
The Wastewater Treatment team are responsible for two treatment plants being oxidation ponds at Otaki and a Biological Nutrient Reduction plant at Paraparaumu. The Paraparaumu Wastewater plant uses a wood fired pellet boiler to run a thermal hot-water dryer as part of the sludge treatment process.
The Water Treatment Plant team is responsible for operating and maintaining five water treatment plants, eight supplementary and two emergency bores. In addition this team is also responsible for monitoring water quality in the reticulation system.
Due to the nature of these roles, the ability to safely and competently undertake the physical tasks associated with the requirements of the roles and the ability and willingness to work on a 24/7 roster that may include overtime and standby to ensure effective cover for the treatment plants and services will be essential. Our Water and Wastewater Assets team work collaboratively and we are looking for Supervisors who can demonstrate:
- experience in this environment leading small but highly effective teams;
- proven capability to develop and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with a range of key stakeholders;
- exemplary communications skills, time management and an eye for detail;
- a strong customer service focus with excellent communication skills;
- outstanding problem solving skills;
- a level of competence to effectively use current technology and a willingness to learn new systems and process to keep up to date with new technology in this field;
- a mechanical or electrical aptitude; and
- hold a current NZ Driver Licence.
The successful candidates will need to hold a National Certificate at Level 4 in Water or Wastewater Treatment. Ideally also a Level 5 National Diploma or working towards this. If necessary, the council will provide support to achieve relevant training and qualifications.
