Stage 2 - Kapiti District Speed Limit Review 2018-19
New Kāpiti speed limits on the way
With the Kāpiti Coast District Council's districtwide review of Kāpiti roads speed limits now complete, we'll be bringing the new limits into force over the next few weeks.
From Monday 15 July we'll be putting up new speed limit signs on 47 rural roads and in the three village centres (Paekākāriki, Raumati South and Raumati Beach).
Please keep an eye out for these new limits as they are effective immediately.

Following community consultation on the second stage of our districtwide local road speed limits review, Councillors have agreed to implement speed limit changes to 47 rural roads and in the three village centres of Paekākāriki, Raumati South and Raumati Beach. This review covered the speed limits on 56 rural roads and the three village centres.
We received 224 submissions, which showed majority support for each of the proposed speed limit changes. The level of support varied depending on the road and ranged from 58% to 85%. The NZ Transport Agency, Police, AA and Kāpiti Cycle Action supported all the proposed changes.
This was the second and final consultation in the review, which we began in mid-2017 and saw speed limit changes brought in for 36 roads across Kāpiti. The review is all about making roads in Kāpiti safer and more efficient.
