Winter Gardening Day
Mahara Place, Waikanae
Thursday 13 June 11am - 2pm
Have you got green fingers but want some pointers for winter gardening? Now's the time to get your garden ready for spring.
Come along to our Winter Gardening Day in Mahara Place Waikanae on Thursday 13 June 11am-2pm.
Join local gardening legend Kath Irvine to learn about winter planting, mulching and maintenance.
Our wonderful Kāpiti climate means we can keep sowing and planting our vege patch right through winter. As crops finish replace them to keep your food garden ticking over with an eye on having fresh vegetables for spring eating.
Kath will be talking about what to sow and plant and how to organise your crop choices to keep your soil strong. Though fruit trees are bare, they benefit from a bit of love at this time of year – Kath will share her super spray and her winter fruit tree ‘to do’ list.
Joining Kath will be a Council gardener and Waikanae Library librarians with their seed bank and origami seed pots.
It’s free to join in and discounts on gardening products and services from some local businesses will be available on the day.
We love Waikanae and know you do too – come along and show your support for Mahara Place businesses during construction of the town centre improvements.
This event is part of our #lovemyneighbourhood initiative.
