Are you meticulous, organised, and ready to make a real impact? The Environmental Health and Licensing Team are looking for a skilled Food and Licensing Officer to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring compliance and regulatory excellence!
We require someone who has proven experience working in the food service sector and/or local government and can quickly gain understanding of relevant legislation and its implications for the Council and community.
In this key position, you will conduct reviews and assessments to maintain compliance standards, including food control plan verification, licence/registration/permit application processing.
The Environmental Health and Licensing team are responsible for administering environmental regulation in the district to contribute to community health, safety and wellbeing. You will work alongside environmental health officers in a small but influential team, and report to the Team Leader Environmental Health and Licensing.

About you | He kōrero mōu
To excel in this role, you will have previous work experience and knowledge and hold a current and valid NZ Driver licence.
Other skills you’ll also bring to the role include:
- Relationship management, and the ability to work with key stakeholders to provide an effective and efficient regulatory service.
- Support and lead proactive problem solving to customers enquiries and complaints.
- Knowledge and the ability to keep up to date with legislative frameworks.
- Debt management.
