It is well known that D.K. Richmond (1861-1935) made an ideal companion for Frances Hodgkins's first European journey. But when, in 1906, Hodgkins returned to Europe and Richmond stayed in Wellington, they parted ways definitively. This talk looks at the distinctly different career that this decision created for Richmond, who is also a Field collection artist.
